Frequently Asked Questions

NSI meets Leeds Live

What do I need to do to prepare my property for the test?

Ensure we have access to all rooms, the fuseboard, as well as all sockets, switches and accessories.

How long will it take?

The length of a test is property and service specific. For example, an EICR can take anywhere from 1.5-4 hours.

Do I have to be present for the test?

As long as we have access to the property/can collect a key, that’s fine.

How long will the power be off?

The power will be off intermittently during the full test.

Who can I contact to rearrange my appointment?

Contact our bookings team on 01134794790 or [email protected].

How and when should I expect to receive my certificate?

It can take up to 72 hours to receive your documents via email. NSI ensures every certificate is passed through our quality control department, then emailed to you via our accounts team.

What does it mean if the test is unsatisfactory?

If you receive an unsatisfactory certificate, this means there are faults within your property that must be rectified.

What will happen if the test is unsatisfactory?

If the test is unsatisfactory, our engineers will determine the best remedy to make sure your property is safe. Our accounts team will email you a quote alongside your certificate and invoice.

How often does the test need to be carried out?

An EICR must be carried out every 5 years.

What maintenance can I carry out on my property in the interim?

Do you do callouts only?

We are Electrical Testing Specialists, so therefore, callouts are not part of our current services.

Can I get an electrical test booked for today/tomorrow?

It’s unlikely that we will have availability on the same day or the following day. However, we occasionally get a cancellation. We will always take a look to see if we can accommodate your request.

What areas do you cover?

We cover all of England, with some areas of South Wales.

Do you do Gas Safety Certificates or EPCs?

Not yet, but we are a rapidly expanding company and this may be something we consider in the future.

How "National" are you?

We cover the whole of England.

All of our electricians are directly employed, and consistent testing is achieved due to NSI’s comprehensive in-house training programme.

Do you do remedial work?

Yes, we offer remedial work on the back of the testing we do, however, we would not be able to accommodate full rewires.

Are your engineers local?

All our engineers work for us, locally to you.

How fast is the certificate turn around?

72 hours is our promise, however, we have been known to have certificates completed and ready in much less time than this!
