Emergency Light Testing

All checks will be undertaken in accordance with BS 5266 standards.
Emergency lighting is for emergency situations when the main power supply is cut and any normal lighting fails. The loss of lighting could be the result of a fire or a power cut or even mains electricity failure. This may lead to darkness and dedicated testing is required to ensure there is no physical danger or panic amongst occupants.
A test for the full rated longevity of the emergency lights must be carried out. The emergency lights must still be illuminated at the end of this test.
The result must be recorded and, if failures are detected, these must be remedied as soon as possible.
