How Do I Get an EICR Certificate?

How do I Get an EICR Certificate?

Well first things first, you need to book in for an EICR test! You can tick this straight off your list right now by clicking the link hereor chat with one of our friendly advisors (click the chatbot below!) who are available to answer any questions and queries you may have about your EICR.

Once you’ve booked in with your chosen date and time, one of our qualified and efficient engineers will arrive at your property and complete the electrical inspection report.

An EICR test typically will take around 1-4 hours to complete, depending on the size of the property and the number of circuits requiring testing.

We have a 48-hour EICR certificate turnaround! That means you will receive your certificate within 48 hours of completion. This will contain information regarding the overall condition of every electrical installation and fitting in the property and detail the safety of them as well.

It should also include the date on which the next inspection is due by. An EICR is required every 5 years for landlords renting out a property.

But wait, what is an EICR?

An electrical installation condition report (EICR) is an inspection carried out by an electrician to ensure that a property is safe for tenants.

EICR’s are a visual inspection and involve performing tests on electrical installations to ensure everything is safe and properly functioning.

You can find out everything you need to know about EICR’s here, plus take a look at our two recent blog post on EICR’s, where we talk about if you need an EICR to sell your house and where in the UK can NSI EICR.

What Happens If It Fails?

If your property is found by the electrician to breach any safety standards, these breaches must be remedied by a qualified person within 28 days of receiving the report or within a specified shorter timeframe if deemed necessary by the inspector.

If the remedial work is not sufficient, then this process must be repeated until all electrical safety standards have been sufficiently met.
